HFCS; High-fructose corn syrup…
| May 1, 2009 | Posted by Randal2k under Food |
I think everyone knows that I am not a fan. I think HFCS is the worst thing that the lobby driven, U.S. FDA has ok’d for distribution to the public, that has no business in our food.
Diabetes aside, this post is about; “Almost half of tested samples of commercial high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) contained mercury, which was also found in nearly a third of 55 popular brand-name food and beverage products where HFCS is the first- or second-highest labeled ingredient, according to two new U.S. studies.” –Washington Post
“Mercury and most of its compounds are extremely toxic and are generally handled with care… Mercury can cause both chronic and acute poisoning.” (Mercury (element))
“A review of medical literature indicates that the characteristics of autism and of mercury poisoning (HgP) are strikingly similar.” – Autism: A Unique Type of Mercury Poisoning
Mercury can even harm unborn children in the womb, Mercury During Pregnancy.
As anyone that believes in Global warming, it’s important to act on the sheer possibility of an eventuality then to ignore the event and hope for the best. In this case, big business wants us to believe that a study like this is not proof at all…
“"This study appears to be based on outdated information of dubious significance," said Audrae Erickson, president of the Corn Refiners Association – Washington post
But, then again “Audrae Erickson”, probably doesn’t want you to see this either, “King Corn [Netflix link]” [IMDB link]…
“King Corn is a feature documentary about two friends, one acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives our fast-food nation. In King Corn, Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, best friends from college on the east coast, move to the heartland to learn where their food comes from. With the help of friendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper crop of America’s most-productive, most-subsidized grain on one acre of Iowa soil. But when they try to follow their pile of corn into the food system, what they find raises troubling questions about how we eat-and how we farm”
it’s past time for us to ban HFCS and move on to a healthier country, world, life.
