This is a post about what i have learned of the both games, the differences, and reasons to play both.
Let’s start with, what is an MMORPG?
Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a genre of computer role-playing games in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world.

Both WoW (World of Warcraft) and DDO (Dungeons and dragons online) are considered MMORPGs. Although they differ in many ways. WoW is a persistent world with crafting and per kill experience, Player vs player, guild vr guild and a cool crafting system. In WoW, the grind is important, questing and running from one area to another, killing things repeatedly to gain experience to advance in the game. This is a lot of fun and drives a sense of conquest. WoW is 15$ a month to play.
DDO, is a team oriented, quest driven experience, and a unique crafting system. DDO is based on Dungeon and Dragons role playing game v3. It’s rules are somewhat different but, follow the traditional D&D D20 scheme. In DDO, all adventures can be done alone, but, the game shines when you team up and talk with other players as you adventure. No experience is awarded till the end of the adventure, this stops people from getting the “unique” item and leaving the group. It also stops people from being to Damage oriented. A cleric can sit back and heal and that is there job! Whether they get 1kill or 40, they still get same XP as everyone else, for doing there job. DDO is free to play, with extra content available for purchase in game.
Both games have strong points and week points. This is however not the theme of this post, instead it is, which do you prefer? Have you tried both? What is your list of ups and downs for the games?
I encourage the feedback!
